ike Edison has been a prominent force in the New York rock scene since the late 80s when he led Sharky’s Machine from behind the drums. Around the same time he wrote and recorded with GG Allin (“That stopped being funny real fast”), did some mercenary work with the Lunachicks (“I wasn’t woman enough to make a real go of it”), and began a career of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll that has taken his music all over the world.

Edison’s take on sex and drugs has an oddly professional bent to it: he is the former publisher of High Times magazine and continues to work as a “journalist” in New York City, writing for such lofty publications as Hustler, Penthouse and Screw.

For over 12 years he has been the drummer of New York’s legendary R&B garage rockers the Raunch Hands.

Between 1992 and 1995 he lived in Madrid and was the beat behind the Pleasure Fuckers.

The Edison Rocket Train began in late 2000 with the idea of a “Hardcore blues and rhythm band, “ says Edison. “Something stripped down to basics with lots of maracas shaking. Like a rock’n’roll tent meeting.”
